Special model of the first performance hybrid for the 55th anniversary of Mercedes-AMG

Affalterbach.  The Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E PERFORMANCE (fuel consumption weighted, combined WLTP: 7.9 l/100 km; CO2 emissions weighted, combined WLTP: 180 g/km; power consumption weighted, combined WLTP: 12.0 kWh/100 km)[1] is the Affalterbach brand’s most powerful production model to date thanks to technology transfer from Formula 1™. The innovative hybrid concept with an electric motor and AMG High Performance battery on the rear axle combines superior system performance of 620 kW (843 hp) with impressive driving dynamics and high efficiency. Mercedes-AMG reaffirms its close ties to the F1 team with this special model and equips the “F1 Edition” with exclusive exterior and interior features. The “F1 Edition” can be ordered immediately at a surcharge of 23,800.00 euros[2].

To celebrate 55 years of AMG, the performance and sports car brand not only looks back with pride on its successful past, but also celebrates the present with the “Edition 55” models. With the special “F1 Edition” model, Mercedes-AMG is now making the electrified future even more visible. Thanks to the technology transfer from Formula 1™, the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E PERFORMANCE is the perfect ambassador for the Future of Driving Performance. The modular E PERFORMANCE hybrid powertrain will soon be coming to other Mercedes-AMG models. The transformation to purely electric drives with AMG derivatives based on the EVA2 platform and, in future, completely independent AMG models based on AMG.EA will be at least as exciting as the past 55 years.

The “F1 Edition” can be recognised at first glance by the paintwork. It is an exclusive combination of the paintwork in non-metallic MANUFAKTUR alpine grey and the foiling with AMG logo and colour gradient from grey to black as well as the red colour accents. The 21-inch AMG forged wheels in the 5-twin-spoke design, black matt finish, with red rim flange, follow the colour scheme of the wheels of the Official FIA F1 Medical Car™ from Mercedes-AMG.

The AMG Aerodynamics package developed in the wind tunnel improves handling characteristics at high speeds and lays the foundation for even more driving performance. The attachments increase the negative lift force while reducing drag. The fixed rear aerofoil demonstrates a clear commitment to uncompromising performance. The AMG Aerodynamics package includes:

  • Fixed rear aerofoil in high-gloss black
  • Further optimised diffuser, integrated in the rear apron
  • Extensively optimised front apron with larger front splitter plus additional air deflector elements on the air intakes and the front wheel arches
  • Deflector elements on the side air outlets of the rear wings.

The AMG Night Package Exterior and the AMG Night Package II also enhance the dynamic appearance of the “F1 Edition”. The front splitter and trim elements in the front wings, exterior mirror housings, side edge trim and window surrounds are finished in high-gloss black. There is also the trim strip in the rear apron, twin tailpipe trims of the AMG exhaust system in black chrome and heat-insulating dark tinted glass. The darkened AMG-specific radiator grille and model badges on the boot lid and wings in black chrome complete the exclusive appearance. And the new AMG fuel filler cap in silver chrome with “AMG” lettering creates an attractive contrast.

As with the “Edition 55” models for the G-Class, A-Class and CLA, the interior is characterised by the contrast of black and red. The AMG Performance seats with Exclusive nappa leather upholstery in black with red decorative stitching follow this sporty look, as do the seat belts in red and the exclusive AMG carbon-fibre trim elements with red thread. The AMG performance steering wheel in nappa leather / DINAMICA microfibre with red decorative stitching and the AMG door sill trims with red illuminated “AMG” lettering. The final touches are the exclusive Edition badge in the interior and specific AMG floor mats.

To protect the valuable vehicle, each customer also receives a customised AMG Indoor Car Cover with F1 logo. With its breathable outer panelling made of tear-resistant synthetic fibre fabric and antistatic inner fabric made of flannel, it protects the vehicle in the garage from dust and scratches.
