Mitch Evans carved his way through the pack and gained an incredible ten places in the London E-Prix, before a technical issue forced him to retire from fourth position. Sam Bird brought home the points, securing eighth place in his home race.

In front of over 40,000 attendees this weekend, Mitch Evans and Sam Bird lined up next to each other on the grid in fourteenth and fifteenth, after another challenging qualifying session in the British capital. The New Zealander made up two places in the opening lap of the race, demonstrating his determination and skill to fight his way into the points. The Kiwi worked his way through the field, making multiple overtakes and tactical ATTACK MODE activations with the support from his Jaguar TCS Racing team. Heading into the final three minutes of added time, Evans’ car developed a technical issue which forced him to retire.
Sam Bird once again showcased the race pace of the Jaguar I-TYPE 5 by carving his way through the field up to eighth place, securing more points for the team.
Heading into the final two rounds of the season, Mitch Evans remains second in the drivers’ standings. Teammate Sam Bird is thirteenth. Jaguar TCS Racing are fourth in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship teams’ standings.

That was an unfortunate and cruel end to the race for Mitch and the team. He had shown phenomenal pace and race craft to fight all the way up to fourth and on the brink of a podium finish. Unfortunately, we had to retire the car with a technical issue and it’s a real shame that we couldn’t capitalise on the great position we had got ourselves into. Sam put in another fantastic race performance today to secure points. We’ve seen very strong race pace in the Jaguar I-TYPE 5 all weekend and we’ll make sure we bring this pace to the final two races in Seoul, to ensure we score as many points as we can and try to fight until the very end for the drivers’ title. We won’t give up until the very last lap and the final chequered flag of the season.

It’s hard to put this one into words. It was a huge race after a difficult qualifying and we were able to put ourselves P4 after starting P14. It was a faultless race, really aggressive with the overtaking and a perfect strategy from the team with my ATTACK MODES. We were set to score a lot of points but we had a technical issue with a few laps to go, which is heart breaking for everyone in the team. Stoffel (Vandoorne) now has quite a large points advantage but we’re not giving up.

It’s been a hard day here in London for the team. We didn’t qualify where we wanted to, but I managed to climb back into the points and secure eighth place. We’re looking forward to our inaugural race in South Korea and we’ll keep fighting until the very end to finish on a high.
