The all-new Honda Civic e:HEV has been named Car of the Year 2023 as well as Best Medium Family Car in the annual Parkers New Car Awards.
Parkers test all the newest cars on the market and provide reviews and information to support the public with their car purchasing experience. Every year, the car experts from Parkers, with help from the CAR and Fleet News teams, whittle down the best cars in a number of categories and crown their top recommendations. The categories are enormously competitive, and the shortlist can be unlimited. To be considered as a nominee, a car must fulfil the following criteria:
- Be driven by the Parkers team of car experts
- Be on sale in the UK
- Have agreed finance in place
Rebecca Adamson, Head of Automobile at Honda UK commented “We are delighted that the team at Parkers have recognised the merits of the all-new Civic e:HEV. The team at Honda have worked tirelessly to deliver a sleek and sporty design focused on driving dynamics and functionality. To win the overall Car of the Year 2023 award is a huge accolade and proves that this car, in its eleventh generation, after 50 years on sale, is just as popular as ever.”
Keith Adams, Editor at Parkers, commented “Taking the top honours in the Parkers New Car Awards 2023 is a remarkable achievement for a fuel-sipping family hatchback in an increasingly electrified world. It’s a reflection of just how effective the Japanese firm’s excellent hybrid drivetrain is, proving you don’t need to plug in to get great efficiency and low running costs. In short, the Honda Civic is an outstanding Parkers Car of The Year – and we think you’ll agree, too.”
As well as the Civic e:HEV claiming the top spot as Car of the Year against some very tough competition, it was also awarded the ‘Best Medium Family Car’. The winners are selected based on their fitness for purpose and in this category, the Civic e:HEV was chosen for having plenty of interior space to comfortably carry four people, excellent access, the latest safety technology, low running costs and offering an enjoyable drive.
Keith Adams, Editor at Parkers, commented “The brand-new Honda Civic is a revelation. It’s spacious inside, has a large, well-shaped boot, and you’ll find a very trick self-charging hybrid system that achieves excellent real-world fuel economy in combination with 184hp performance. Honda has clearly lavished an enormous amount of attention on the chassis and suspension, and it shows – what really impresses us is how thoroughly well engineered it feels to drive.”
