One-day and multi-day events with AMG vehicle fleet for beginners and advanced drivers
From January to March 2023, the AMG Experience will be offering participants the opportunity to improve their driving skills on snow and ice under the guidance of experienced instructors and AMG Brand Ambassadors from the world of motorsport with the exclusive AMG Winter Experience. In addition to the proven and popular trainings in Swedish Lapland, a destination in Austria’s Saalfelden is also on offer for the first time. With the Mercedes-AMG EQE 53 4MATIC+ (power consumption combined: 22.7 – 19.6 kWh/100 km; CO2 emissions combined: 0 g/km)[1], the vehicle fleet also includes a model with purely battery-electric drive for the first time. Also new to the portfolio is the Mercedes‑AMG SL 63 4MATIC+ (fuel consumption combined: 13.2-12.8 l/100 km; CO₂ emissions combined 300-290 g/km)2. During all events, qualified instructors coach participants individually and give helpful tips to improve driving skills based on their many years of experience in motorsport.
In Sweden, a unique experience awaits participants on a frozen lake of more than 337,000 m² near Arjeplog: Numerous and very different handling tracks are prepared on the layer of ice that is more than 90 centimetres thick, guaranteeing consistent riding conditions. The base layer allows a choice of icy surfaces or an almost completely solid snow cover – the perfect scenario to develop a feeling for traction and steering precision. Arjeplog is a very special place for every petrolhead: For decades, car manufacturers from all over the world have been testing their prototypes and camouflaged pre‑production cars for their winter suitability here.
The almost limitless expanse of the lake convey an unmistakable feeling of freedom. The aim of the training sessions is to master an AMG Performance or sports car model safely, even in borderline situations, and to improve one’s own driving skills. In addition, the focus is of course on driving pleasure on snow and ice in the impressive wilds of Swedish Lapland. The fleet of vehicles offers a lot of variety and thus further exciting impressions for the participants.
One-day training courses for beginners in Austria new in the 2023 offering
New in the 2023 programme are one-day training courses with an overnight stay in the breathtaking mountain world of Austria: The “DISCOVER” programme is tailor-made for those interested in gaining their first dynamic driving experience on snow and at the same time getting to know the Mercedes‑AMG brand better. Against the unique backdrop of the Salzburg foothills of the Alps, they can safely approach the limits of the vehicle and their own driving skills at the Driving Technique Experience Centre of the Austrian Automobile Club ÖAMTC.
The right programme for every driving ability
There is something for every experience level in the AMG Winter Experience: from beginners to advanced drivers to experienced experts. The “DISCOVER” training level is ideal for beginners. It focuses on driving safety and getting to know the Mercedes-AMG vehicles. In the “PERFORMANCE” advanced training, the driver can expand on the learned basics of driving physics in practical exercises. In addition, the handling of performance vehicles in challenging situations and with the Mercedes-AMG driver assistance systems is further developed. During the “ADVANCED WEEK”, participants have five days to improve their driving skills. For the “PRO” level, prior experience by completing an AMG “ADVANCED” training or a comparable programme is a prerequisite. In the “PRO WEEK” event format, personal driving skills can be refined through increased individual support in small groups. The “PRO PLUS” training level is ideal for drivers with track day ambitions. In intensive technical discussions with experienced racing drivers on and off the training grounds, they expand their skills and test driving at the absolute limit in the individual “PRO PLUS” format.
In some training formats, a spectacular ride in the AMG Ice Taxi complements the experience. With maximum traction and power, the AMG Ice Taxi shows what is possible under extreme conditions with special studded tyres.
Feeling great all-round after the training, too
After the driving experiences, participants can relax in comfortable accommodation and talk about the day’s experiences. In Austria, the 4-star Hotel* Gut Brandlhof offers the appropriate environment including a steam bath to warm up and relax.
In Sweden, AMG guests stay in the 4-star Silverhatten Hotel* or in the 4-star AMG Lodge accommodation, which is reserved exclusively for participants. Only 18 kilometres from the training grounds, Hotel Silverhatten offers a great view of the wintry landscape of northern Sweden. It has many amenities such as a restaurant, sauna, spa and fitness room. The AMG Lodge is equipped with exclusive rooms and is located in the midst of wonderful mountains and lakes. Culinary delights with Swedish creations and international specialities are a matter of course in the restaurants at both locations. Optionally, you can book other typical Lapland activities such as a ride on a husky dog sled.
