With a purely electric fleet, Mercedes-Benz presents a range of innovative car and van solutions in Hall 1
After a two-year break, the leading international trade fair for rescue operations and mobility – RETTmobil – is opening its doors again this year. From 11 to 13 May 2022 the latest innovations in rescue services will be presented at the exhibition grounds in Fulda. Alongside the exhibition there will be an extensive supporting programme with training courses, workshops and presentations, as well as the popular off-road course.
On a stand covering 340 square metres in Hall 1, Mercedes-Benz is once again a central part of the trade fair and, in collaboration with proven body manufacturers, will present a number of highlights. Plus, there is a really special feature in store this year: all the Mercedes-Benz vehicles being shown at the event are equipped with a battery-electric drive and prove that electromobile solutions are also becoming increasingly important for the rescue industry.
One highlight is the ambulance, which was developed together with the company Ambulanz Mobile and is based on the eSprinter. An eVito Tourer and the EQC 400 4MATIC (combined power consumption: 19.4‑21.9 kWh/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 0 g/km)[1] equipped as emergency medical vehicles are also being exhibited. The innovative character is also reflected in the design of the exhibition stand, with a showcased stage which gives visitors a glimpse into the future of rescue work. As in previous years, the use of recyclable and lightweight materials puts the focus on sustainability through the reduction of weight and transportation volume as well as the prevention of unnecessary waste.

The Mercedes-Benz eSprinter as an ambulance
Mercedes-Benz Vans and its partner Ambulanz Mobile GmbH & Co. KG from Schönebeck in Saxony-Anhalt have developed an all-electric ambulance (eKTW) based on the eSprinter. Its range is sufficiently dimensioned so that the vehicle can travel locally emission-free not only in the city, but also in the urban environment.. Despite the installations required in the patient compartment, the eKTW does not exceed the total weight of 3.5t. In this way, even drivers who only have a passenger car driving licence can carry out patient transport operations. For this purpose, attention was paid to the installation of particularly weight-saving and yet high-quality materials. The electricity supply of the body is kept separate to that of the base vehicle by the installation of two control units and functions autonomously.. This makes the function of the medical devices independent of the vehicle battery.. The eSprinter as the base vehicle is equipped with a powerful electric motor boasting 85 kW (116 hp). Thanks to its quick-charging function, the high-voltage battery is able to bring the state of charge up from ten to 80 percent[2] within just twenty minutes. Ideal if it has to be fast in use.
The Mercedes-Benz eVito Tourer as an emergency doctor vehicle
The eVito Tourer from Mercedes-Benz offers the necessary features to meet the requirements of an emergency vehicle: it has a highly efficient electric motor which achieves 150 kW (204 hp) and delivers 345 Nm of torque. A range of up to 370 kilometres (eVito Tourer with 90 kWh of usable battery capacity: electrical consumption 29.8-26.2 kWh/100 km, emissions: 0 g/km)1 allows a sufficiently large radius for emergency operations.
Its quick-charging function recharges the eVito Tourer with the optionally available maximum 110 kW charging performance[3] to a state of charge of 80 percent within 45 minutes2. The expansion of the exhibited emergency medical vehicle was carried out by the long-standing Van Partner BINZ Ambulance- und Umwelttechnik GmbH. The company fitted the vehicle with equipment including a rear cupboard for medical devices and instruments, a workplace for the emergency doctor, a compressor thermostatic cabinet, a compressor refrigerator as well as an LED roof beam signal system and LED front flashers.
Mercedes Benz EQC 400 4MATIC as an emergency doctor vehicle
The Mercedes-Benz electromobile trio at RETTmobil is completed by the EQC 400 4MATIC, which has been equipped as an emergency doctor vehicle by the Mercedes-Benz subsidiary CARS from Wiedemar. For example, the vehicle was additionally equipped with a roof beam signal system and received a striking red-yellow foil. In summer 2019, the EQC 400 4MATIC was launched as the first vehicle of the Mercedes-Benz brand Mercedes‑EQ. It was both a pioneer and a milestone as part of the group’s “Ambition 2039” strategy. In terms of quality, safety and comfort, the EQC is a hallmark Mercedes and convinces with the highest level of noise comfort in the mid-size SUV segment. Added to this is the high driving dynamics thanks to two electric motors on the front and rear axles with a combined output of 300 kW (408 hp). Thanks to a sophisticated operating strategy, an electric range of 421-462 km is possible. With Mercedes me Charge, Mercedes-Benz offers extensive charging services for the EQC and makes electric mobility convenient and suitable for everyday use. In addition, since January 2021, the EQC has had a particularly powerful on-board charger with 11 kW as standard and can thus be charged much faster at home at the wallbox and at public charging stations with alternating current.. The 80 kWh battery can thus be charged over three hours faster than before – taking just seven and a half hours to charge from 10 to 100 percent SoC (State of Charge). During rapid charging with direct current[4], for example at an IONITY station, the battery is recharged in 40 minutes. The standard DC on-board charger with 110 kW is used here.
