Toyota South Africa Motors (TSAM) is proud to have won a total of 10 awards at the National Association of Automotive Manufacturers of South Africa (naamsa) Accelerator Awards last week. These include three awards in the New Vehicles and Manufacturing categories – respectively – as well as four in the Dealership classification.

New Vehicle Sales

Toyota Starlet: Passenger Newcomer of the Year Award

Toyota Hilux: Light Commercial Vehicle of the Year Award

Toyota Coaster: Other Commercial Newcomer of the Year Award

Manufacturing Awards

Toyota Hilux: Top Locally Manufactured Car of the Year

Toyota Corolla Cross: Top Locally Manufactured Newcomer of the Year

Toyota Starlet: Top Imported Car of the Year Award

DEALERSHIP AWARDS

Top Passenger Dealer of the Year Award: Toyota Durban South

Top Light Commercial Dealer of the Year Award: Halfway Toyota Honeydew

Most-improved Passenger Dealer of the Year Award: Fury Toyota Randburg

Most-improved Commercial Dealer of the Year Award: Hino Kuilsrivier

Commenting on Toyota’s phenomenal recognition by naamsa, TSAM’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing Leon Theron said: “On behalf of the Toyota family, we are pleased that these awards recognise all three arms of our business – including Sales (and Marketing), Manufacturing as well as our Dealer Network. The importance of interdependence between these divisions cannot be overemphasised as it has become the cornerstone of our business success.”

It is also worth noting that SA’s favourite bakkie and bestseller (overall) year-to-date, Hilux, as well as Starlet have doubled their accolades each by winning under both New Vehicle Sales and Manufacturing Awards categories.

Earlier, naamsa CEO Mikel Mabasa announced that the awards will become SA’s only fact-based and prestigious motoring competition in the country.

“We are using our respected, trusted and independently audited datasets to recognise and acknowledge best performing brands in different segments and categories across the entire auto value chain. We will also be recognising best performing dealerships for year under review across all our brands in South Africa,” said Mabasa.
